How does it work?

Liquid Bubble Insulation

Insulation

Super efficient insulation with U-value >0.025 depending on thickness with a minimum of 50cm depth of soap bubbles that creates a temperature buffer towards the outside keeping the heat either in or out. This soap bubble protecting can be filled or removed from the cavity in minutes for rapid respons to needs, weather, seasons and climate; either manually, with simple timers or fully automated.

Bubbles does not provide a static insulating, but enable a stable temperature in the building envelope by generating bubbles from room temperate soap liquid. Bubble renewal is required to maintain the required insulation value. Correct bubble replacement in each renewal cycle is therefore key! Bubble last up to 8-9 hours in the sealed cavity and can be sucked out or replaced by new room temperate bubbles.

Shading

Reduce the light by 50-70% simulating light cloud cover without blocking the solar radiation.

There is no need for large storage of soap liquid as this expands 500-1000 times by bubble generators to fill the cavity. However, the benefits of connecting this to a larger thermal mass is significant and advisable whenever possible.

Liquid cooling & solar energy capture

Heat collection

The building envelope acts as a solar collector, harnessing solar energy with or without bubbles.

Thermal mass storage

Liquid thermal mass stored in the ground or within the building for optimal energy balance.

Cooling and humidity control

Circulating cool water prevents overheating and dehumidifies the space, eliminating the need for ventilation.

Algae production

Incorporates a three-layer system to produce algae, enhancing sustainability by adding another level of production for feed, food, materials or renewable energy in form of biogass or biofuel.

Materials

SolaRoof is not bound to any specific choice of materials.

Real life applications
SolaRoof technology doesn't have to look a certain way, but it does require the correct bubble flow of at least 50cm thickness. The more water you add as thermal mass, the better the overall energy balance!

Scope of applications

Scope of applications

There have been multiple past projects with varied R&D down to cell culture level as well as commercial scale greenhouses strong partners over several decades showing great results. Due to the disruptive nature of SolaRoof, and later also inventor Richard Nelson’s great efforts to ensure that the vision and patents are safeguarded from corporate greed, there have been several challenges and delays in bringing this technology to market. In recent years, a strong team of SolaRoof Co-Missioners has formed to bottom up collaborating on a multitude of products across markets with suppliers and producers on all continents to bring the potential forth at speed and determination to make a substantial positive impact for people, animals and nature now and for generations to come.

We are now ready to up the level and launch a movement that engages big business and key institutions worldwide.
